Teaching is a work of heart. It is my life-long passion and joy. Beginning on
the Big Island of Hawaii as a small-school teacher in 2013, I had the
opportunity to work as a multigrade teacher in several Adventist schools
over 5 years. Upon the start of pursuing my Master’s degree in Reading
Science in 2018, I had the incredible privilege of working in a Jewish
school. This encounter with another Sabbath-keeping community of faith
grew my interest in hands-on, multisensory learning within the context of
reading instruction. I got married and moved to Walla Walla, WA.
During the Covid pandemic, I continued working towards my degree in the
science of reading. While studying, I began intense reading remediation
lessons with five students in their homes in Walla Walla, WA while also
working for Sycamore Academy online as one of their elementary teachers.
I finished my thesis, graduated, and reentered the classroom working
alongside a 3 rd through 5 th grade resource room team of educators at Davis
Elementary in College Place, WA. I stayed for 2 years, actively remediating
the reading skills with over 27 students within the resource room
department.
Reading/Literature instruction and Bible class are two of my absolute
favorite things to teach. I am so excited to share my love of God’s Word
and the fascinating science of reading with the CCA middle school
students.
