I have enjoyed working with kids ever since I became a counselor at a summer camp in Finland. I worked as a counselor for 3 summers. That experience made me decide to get my degree in Education. I started working on my degree in 1993 at the Turku University in Finland. I started my studies with Educational Pedagogy. Then I transferred to United States and graduated from Walla Walla College, WA in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with minors in TESL (Teaching English as Second Language) and History.
The first two years I got the opportunity to work in Bangkok, Thailand as a 3-4th grade teacher. It was an amazing cultural and educational experience! After moving back to the United States my husband, Jason, and I moved to California. There I worked teaching grades K, 1, and K-2 for 5 years. I worked at Dinuba Junior Academy, Los Banos Seventh Day Adventist School, and Echo Ridge Christian School in Nevada City.
I had my children, Anna and Ben, there and stayed home with them for a while in between teaching.
I have had the privilege of being a teacher here at Cascade Christian Academy since 2008. I have taught grades 3, 2-3, and 3-4 at CCA. I even got to teach Home Economics for the high school my first year!
When I am not teaching I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with my family.
I believe that the children are a gift from God! In my classroom we pray together every morning and each child has the opportunity to learn to communicate with Jesus. We have many class discussions during worship and Bible time and children feel free to discuss things that are on their heart. I strive to have my classroom to be a safe and nurturing place for each child. Each child is unique and I strive to meet each child’s needs to the best of my ability.
