After 12 years of attending Adventist schools I graduated in 1985 from Auburn Adventist Academy. I attended Pacific Union College and Green River Community College with the goal of becoming a PE teacher. After four years of part time school and work I made the decision to enter the work force full time.
I began my construction career in the fall of 1989. I worked for a contractor in Puyallup Washington as a project superintendent and had the benefit of learning many aspects of the trade while working for this contractor for about four years. I then started my own construction business in Puyallup.
In April of 1990 Tracy and I were married and began our family with the birth of Gregory in November of 1992. Christopher followed in January of 1995, and then Madeline in June of 1996. We all moved to Wenatchee in January of 1997 and resumed my construction company here.
In 2005 I was hired to coach the freshman boys’ basketball team for Eastmont Junior High. I had such a great time working with those kids that it rekindled my desire to become a teacher.
In 2007 I enrolled at Ashford University to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. In 2010 I graduated from Ashford with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science. From there I enrolled at Rio Salado College, earned my degree in Secondary Education, passed my State certification exams for grades 7-12 and received an endorsement in history. I am currently working on my SDA denominational certification.
In the summer of 2012 I was hired by Cascade Christian Academy to perform my dream job of teaching PE, and being the Athletic Director.
Beginning with the 2013-2014 school year I was given the opportunity to use my construction experience and start an Industrial Arts program. The juniors and seniors can choose this class as an elective. They are learning the skills to perform everyday tasks that all homeowners and cars owner should have.
My goal at CCA is to lead by example, teach Christian principles, and constantly improve my teaching skills. I wake up every day grateful for the opportunity to work with kids, and find ways for them to enjoy Physical Education and Industrial Arts.
